Faculty Collective-Steve Graves
Steve Graves teaches a variety of classes in the Geography Department, including Medical/Health Geography. He has been involved with RIMI students since the early days of its inception. Dr. Graves has published a number of manuscripts analyzing the great variation in access to quality credit for people of color, the poor and members of the US military. These accessibility studies, largely completed with the aid of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software are very similar to the sorts of analyses students working with Dr. Graves have undertaken, or can expect to get training to undertake. Students studying with Dr. Graves have done a number of studies involving spatial access to health care, recreational facilities, food retailers, emergency services as well as disamenities including pollution and unhealthy eating options.
