Faculty Collective-Dena Herman
Dena Herman is an Associate Professor in the Department of Family and Consumer Sciences. Her research interests focus on the prevention of childhood obesity taking a life course approach. Her current projects include a collaboration with Los Angeles County Department of Public Health and First 5 LA to test obesity prevention interventions with low income populations in the child care setting. She also teaches Community Nutrition for the department and students in the class have the opportunity to develop relationships with community partners to develop and evaluate nutrition education and other priority projects for these community organizations.
