March 9, 2020
The MMC was honored to host the “Kitchen Kapers” luncheon on March 1st, a donor appreciation event held on campus that highlighted the release of the 3rd edition of the MMC Wellness Kitchen Cookbook. This edition is a unique compilation of Marilyn Magaram’s original recipes which we were privileged to receive from her daughter, Jodi, after the MMC’s 25th Anniversary celebration in 2016, and since then it has been our desire to create this nostalgic collection as a tribute to Marilyn and her passion for nutrition and low-calorie gourmet cooking. Along with tours, demonstrations, and various garden activities, guests at the event enjoyed a four-course dining experience featuring Marilyn’s own recipes prepared by Chef Harold Avila, C-CAP culinary students, and MMC student assistants and interns. Special recognition was also given at the event to the Drown Foundation, whose generous funding has been instrumental in helping the MMC deliver and expand our portfolio of projects, programs, and services benefiting CSUN students and the community.
We are sincerely grateful for the continued support of our all of donors, sponsors, and campus and community partners who make it possible for us to achieve our mission to enhance and promote health and wellbeing through research, education, and services in food science, nutrition, and dietetics.
