McClay managed all aspects of Cal Burke High School's opening in Panorama City, including hiring, development of its instructional program, and the selection of instructional material as the founding principal. She then worked with the USC Rossier School of Education to open the USC Hybrid High School and facilitate its year-round, hybrid learning model in downtown Los Angeles, the press release said. She returned to the San Fernando Valley in 2013 as the principal of Portola Middle School and their Highly Gifted Magnet School in Woodland Hills. She earned her Master's and Doctorate in Education at Cal State Northridge, the press release said.
