July 7, 2018

Bridget Fornaro

Bridget Fornaro has received the highest-ranking honor given by Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA). She is the first CSUN student to win the National Golden Key award.

“I am so excited to have this award,” Fornaro said. “I have been actively involved in PRSSA since I transferred to CSUN in 2016. Public relations is my passion and I feel honored to be recognized at this level in my academic journey.”

The award will be presented at PRSSA’s national conference in Austin, Texas, this October, she said.

This award honors student members who excel in their academic study of public relations, has pursued ambitious professional development opportunities and are leaders in their PRSSA Chapter, according to information contained on the PRSSA Scholarship and Awards web site.

Fornaro appreciates the invitation, she said.

“I would not be the person I am today if it was not for my PR related internships at Warner Music Group, CBS, CSUN Today and Fox Television,” said Fornaro. “I also cannot forget my PR classes, like Agency 398, to give me that extra push in the field.”

She also credited her journalism/PR professors from Moorpark College and CSUN.

Fornaro is on track to complete a bachelor’s degree in journalism with a focus in public relations and a minor in interactive marketing by May 2019. She hopes to become a publicist or a social media specialist in the entertainment industry after graduation, she said.
