Portfolio Revision Guidelines
for Major Essays
This will enable you to take the opportunity to revise and improve your grade on your essay and is totally
voluntary. Caveat Emptor: Follow these steps very closely or I will NOT accept your revision.
- You may conference with me to discuss your revision. And write a follow up letter as instructed below
- AND/OR
- You may go the Learning Resource Center's Writing Lab, BH415.
- a. Just make sure you see me about any questions you may have regarding my comments before
going to the LRC.
- b. Go
to the link on our course homepage for the hours. They take walk-ins, but
making an appointment is strongly suggested.
- c. Make an appointment by calling 677-2033 with a peer tutor in the writing lab and ask them to assist you with your portfolio revision.
- d. Retain the copy of your visit (pink sheet) and include it in your portfolio revision as I must have evidence of your visit.
- e. You MUST take your assignment prompt and the draft or drafts with my comments on it.
- f. WITHOUT THIS CONFIRMATION I WILL NOT ACCEPT YOUR REVISION.
You may also do an online appointment as stipulated on our course projects link.
They will hold a copy of your appointment (pink sheet) for you to pick up the following day. cxld due furlough
After you have reviewed all of your instructor's comments and completed your portfolio revision:
Write me a formal letter (use proper letter format see EW p556) as in Dear Prof. Overman addressing
the following:
- What you worked on specifically with the peer tutor or your instructor?
- What specifics did he/she assist you with?
- What did you get out of this meeting?
Turn in your same folder to me again with the above letter, LRC appointment sheet,
your portfolio revision draft, original grade sheet, and all the drafts with my
comments and those of your peers, in addition to all the usual relevant
documents.
