- Get to Know Your Neighbors
During this session we want you to “break the ice” with your neighbors. We will be offering a wide range of different virtual ice breakers so you and your neighbors can get better acquainted! - Get Pumped with Matador Athletics
Matador Athletics will be throwing us their very own virtual Pep Rally. Here you will be able to see different athletic teams showcase their matador spirit! - Get Engaged: Digital Vision Board.
Let's start off this semester with reminding ourselves of our personal goals, values, and dreams. To do this we will be doing vision boards virtually with some fun music in the background. To make our virtual vision boards we will be using the website pixlr. At the end, those that want to share may do so. - Matador Mixer
Your Resident Mentors will be providing a space for you all to mingle and talk amongst residents and other CSUN students. - The Invisible Load of Motherhood (Stay at Home Mama Edition)
During these times of uncertainty being a mama can be challenging. Join us during Matador Mamas to have a discussion on the factors of the invisible load of motherhood. The mama-led discussions are meant to empower each other and create a brave space. Join for a chance to win CSUN swag!

Are you the first to go to college in your family? Join our First to Go Student panel. They’ll be discussing how they learned how to navigate the unknown world of higher education while giving you (the student) insight as to how you can succeed! Welcome to CSUN Hood Scholars. We are an affinity group that strives to build a community and space with and for students from the hood navigating higher education. Our Residence Halls Association (RHA) is an organization with the goal of promoting a healthy academic and social environment while serving as the student voice for concerns of the community in CSUN Student Housing. RHA provides engaging programs for students to get involved and hosts regular community meetings to discuss concerns and suggestions. What & When is Housewarming?
WHAT IS HOUSEWARMING?
Housewarming is an early move-in experience designed to help eligible residents acclimate and integrate to CSUN the CSUN Student Housing community. Throughout this three-day experience, attendees will be engaging with Student Housing staff, different CSUN resources, and each other. We will offer various student panels, workshops, and virtual events led by students like you! You all will also be receiving CSUN Swag and have the opportunity to win raffle prizes!
WHEN IS HOUSEWARMING?
Housewarming is a three-day event, stretching from Wednesday, August 19th to Friday, August 21st. You will have a scheduled move-in date prior to the event.
WHAT WILL THE SCHEDULE LOOK LIKE?
Tentative schedule is coming, stay up-to-date by following @csunhousewarming on Instagram. A concrete schedule will be distributed upon arrival.
What you get out of Housewarming?
Early Move-in:
- Housewarming attendees have the opportunity to move in before their peers. Our focus during this program is to help influence your transition to college, and prepare you with tools for success when challenges arise. The transition to CSUN can be difficult for many, but we want to ensure that you are equipped with the resources to make your transition easier. Becoming familiar with this new environment ensures that you receive the most interactive and engaging college experience.
Learning Objective
- Self-Discovery: This program will allow you to reflect on your past experiences and how they might impact your college career.
- Community Building: Housewarming provides an opportunity to build relationships and develop a sense of belonging.
- Embrace Transition: You will be given the tools to overcome challenges, and, thrive in your academic and personal endeavors.
- Diversity: we pride ourselves on intersecting identities in order to promote a respectful, inclusive, and diverse atmosphere.
How do I know if I’m eligible to come to Housewarming?
All First Year and first-time Transfer students are invited to the event.
When is move-in for Housewarming?
Students will receive a scheduled move-in day/time prior to the event.
I’m a parent, guardian, or loved one, of the student participating in Housewarming, but I anticipate staying in the area for a night or two. What are my options?
We, in Student Housing and Residential Life, do offer Guest Housing!
California State University, Northridge offers several hotel-style guest housing suites at a daily rate. The guest suites offer a wide range of amenities, including the convenience of being within walking distance of classrooms, laboratories, administrative offices and other campus facilities.

Additionally, we would like to note, while we love family and friend support during this momentous occasion, we do recommend and require your student(s) to be on-campus and present during the events and sessions we offer. Therefore, we discourage student(s) from leaving while sessions and events are occurring.
When will we get the detailed schedule for Housewarming?

I and/or my student are deaf/hard of hearing. Will there be services available?
Absolutely! In Student Housing, we have three professional staff interpreters that can, and will, be present when services are needed.
