Announcements

The Fall 2023 English Department student writing award winners will be announced in 319 Jerome Richfield Hall at noon on Dec. 8, 2023 (Friday), and the Department Holiday Party will commence afterward. Merriment, if not bedlam, is anticipated.

Accomplishments

Danielle Spratt and English Department graduate student Jennifer Sams are featured in the most recent episode of the Remnants of Resistance podcast from the Queer Studies Program and the University Library Special Collections & Archives. The episode is titled “Queering the Page and the Nature of Disruption.” It available on the University Library website.

Colleen Tripp has two articles coming out in December: “Empires of Extraction: Silver Field Ecologies and Eugenics in Silvia Moreno-Garcia’s Mexican Gothic” in Studies in American Fiction, vol. 50 no.1 & 2, 2023; and “‘Coach, I got a feeling we’re not in Kansas anymore:’ Ted Lasso and the Heartland Mythos” in The Journal of American Culture, vol. 46, no. 4, 2023.

George Uba‘s poem “Full Service at J & S Shell” was published in the New England Review, Vol. 44, No. 2. His poem “Girl Receives Rose, a  Narrative” was named a finalist for the 54th New Millennium Writing Awards.
