Description
The Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities (DODD) has promoted use of technology through a variety of methods. This session will overview these projects and discuss successes, barriers, and lessons learned. Tech Ambassador Project – A grant was provided to recruit, supervise, and facilitate a network of Technology Ambassadors across the state of Ohio. Through this project, eight people supported in our system and a family member share their technology success stories and consult with teams across the state. Innovative Technology Solutions – DODD has offered grants to providers that want to be innovative through technology either for the people they are supporting or for their agency. Technology Education Contracts – DODD developed a contract with Tech First Shift to offer several levels of certification for anyone across the state interested in learning more about the use of technology. DODD has contracted with subject matter experts to train on topics promoting technology access and use across the state. Tech & Residential Providers – DODD is contracting with subject matter experts to work directly with residential providers to implement a plan to access and use technology throughout their organization. Tech & Housing Corps – DODD is offering a grant to Housing Corporations across the state. This grant will equip housing with technology for ease of access and use. In conclusion, these efforts will be tied to Ohio's Technology First movement.
