So You've Automated Accessibility Testing... Now What?

Date & Time
Thursday, March 16, 2023 - 11:20 AM PST
Location
Grand JK
Description
This session will be a guide and practicum covering how development organizations can make effective and efficient use of test results that are generated via automated testing. The initial supposition is that within the digital accessibility space over the last several years there has been a non-trivial growth in adoption and awareness relating to "shifting left" with accessibility. This has led to a dramatic increase in the adoption of automated accessibility testing during CI/CD processes, however that increase in adoption doesn't fully translate to a proportional increase in overall accessibility because there is as of yet not enough enablement supporting how teams can use those test results to govern quality and drive improvements. This session will be a combination of presentation through slides, as well as a practical demonstration of the suggested methods for utilizing automated test results to actually improve the digital accessibility of an application or product.

Session Summary (Abstract)
Adoption of automated accessibility testing is a good first step, but its impact is limited if we don't take action on the results. Quality gates and simple tool use can lead to a more accessible product downstream while keeping development moving.
