H. Bruce Lammers received his Ph.D. in Social Psychology with an
emphasis
in Consumer Psychology from the University of Missouri (1976).
He is Emeritus Professor of Marketing at California State
University,
Northridge (1977-2013) where he has taught Consumer Behavior, Marketing
Research,
Marketing Management, International Marketing (Japanese Executive
Program),
Internet Marketing, and Marketing Communications (Graduate only). He
received the CSUN Distinguished
Professor
Award (1981) and has served as Chair of the Department of Marketing
(1981-82
& 1987-88 & 2008-09). He received the Marketing Educator of the
Year
Award from the international Marketing Educators' Association in
2002 and the Lifetime Contribution Award from the international Marketing Educators' Association in 2015..
Prior to joining CSUN, he taught Business Statistics and Systems
Analysis
at Georgia College; Applied Psychology at Columbia College; and,
Medical
Statistics at the Behavioral Science Research Section of the University
of Missouri Medical Center. He has also been a visiting professor at
Claremont
Graduate School, where he taught Consumer Behavior.
His primary research
interests are in consumer
perception, social cognition, and persuasion. He has published in the Journal
of Marketing Research, Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin,
Journal
of Social Psychology, Journal of Consumer Marketing, Journal of Product
and Brand Management, Advances in Consumer Research, European Advances
in Consumer Research, Psychological Reports, Journal of Business
Research,
Journal of Marketing Education, Animal Learning & Behavior,
Perceptual
& Motor Skills, and the British Journal of Social Psychology,
Journal of College Teaching & Learning, Journal of Education for
Business, Journal of Disability Policy Studies, and
others.
He was President of the Southern California Professional Chapter of
the American Marketing Association (SCAMA) in 1984. He has served as
Secretary-Treasurer
of the Western Marketing Educators' Association and of the Consumer
Psychology
Division of the American Psychological Association.
He has been a consultant to the Japan Franchise Association
(Tokyo),
Ford Motor Company, Carnation, Leslie Pools, Universal Studios,
Johnston's
Yogurt, and others.
In 1981 and 1995-2000 he served as a baseball coach for the Los
Angeles
Recreation and Parks 8-10, 11-12, and 13-15 year-olds leagues. Thanks
primarily
to the formidable pitching of his son, Chris, his coaching record has
been
hugely successful.
His wife, Marilyn, is Emeritus Associate Professor of Business at
Glendale
Community
College. Their oldest son, Alan, earned his Master's in engineering
from
the University of California, San Diego and his MBA from the University
of Michigan. Alan was with strategic planning for Ford
Motor
in Detroit and with Ricardo Consulting of London whose clients
include Formula 1 Racing, John Deere, Caterpillar, and others.
Alan races experimental automobiles around test
tracks
in Michigan, Florida, and Belgium.[green envy]. Alan and his
wife,
Cheryl, live in the suburbs of Detroit with their beautiful daughter, Haley
and handsome son, Kyle.
Alan's younger brother, Bryan, received his Bachelor's in English from
UCLA and was CFO and MIS Manager for Gramici's in Ventura. He is
currently owner and operator of a B-to-B internet fulfillment company
in Oxnard. Bryan and
his
wife, Sandy, have a handsome young son, Cameron,
a lovely daughter, Eryn,
and a vocal young man, TJ.
Last, but not least, Chris, the youngest and best looking of the three
brothers (according to him), is a 29-year old Brooklyn/LA jazz drummer whose old band,
MDP, has performed
at
the
Whiskey and elsewhere. He was a percussionist in CSUN's
Jazz A Band which did a stint in Germany and France. He can be found in jazz
clubs jam sessions all around town when he is not serving as the lead
drummer on Holland-America and Royal Caribbean cruises. He batted .400 for the
Northridge Parks and Recreation All-Stars
in the summer of '97 and in '99 was one of the key pitchers who led
Northridge
to the furthest it had ever gone in Los Angeles City tournament
history.
