DuPratt holds a bachelor’s degree in English from California State University, Northridge. She worked in the newsroom at the Antelope Valley Press for 28 years, starting as a part-time reporter/photographer and retiring in 2007 as associate managing editor. She was married to James V. DuPratt Jr., a Quartz Hill High School English and journalism teacher and member of the AV College Board of Trustees. He passed away in 1997. --Antelope Valley Press

Isaac Michael Ybarra, a visual artist and storyteller, is Tongva, Chumash and Xicano. Grounded in his ancestral cultivation, he utilizes film, photography and poetry to amplify decolonial narratives and reclaim Indigenous pedagogies. He graduated from Cal State Northridge, where he learned to empower his community through coalition building and navigating bureaucracy. Today, he is a fellow for the California Creative Corps and a representative of the County in the 3rd district for the Youth Climate Commission. Overdevest began his career in education as a physical education teacher in the Hart District in 1996. He has worked at a variety of schools and levels, including Arroyo Seco and La Mesa junior high schools and Saugus and Castaic high schools. Overdevest has also served in a number of roles at those sites, including department chairperson, technology coordinator, staff development team member, ASB director and athletic director.
