Governor Newsom Announces Appointments 9.8.23

Candis Welch, of Long Beach, has been appointed to the State Rehabilitation Council. Welch has been Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Coordinator, Internal Programming at the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority since 2022. She was a Contracts and Procurement Analyst at the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority from 2018 to 2022 and a Procurement Coordinator for the Los Angeles County Auditor-Controller from 2014 to 2018. Welch earned a Master of Public Policy and Administration degree and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism from California State University, Northridge. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Welch is a Democrat. -- CA.gov

Second Gentleman Douglas Emhoff coming to Shanksville

As the nation's first second gentleman, married to the first woman vice president, Emhoff was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., and raised in Matawan, N.J., by his parents, Mike and Barbara, with his siblings, Jamie and Andy. His family moved to the Los Angeles area during his teen years. Emhoff earned a bachelor of arts from California State University, Northridge and a J.D. from the University of Southern California Gould School of Law. Schumacher began her publishing career at Disney Music Group, where she served as Catalog Manager and handled day-to-day writer management. In 2019, the California State University, Northridge graduate formed writer management and development company Darkhorse Music Management. CCUSD Hires Eight New Administrators Across Multiple Departments and Schools

Deanna Sinfield comes to CCUSD from the Santa Monica – Malibu Unified School District, where she served as the Director of Special Education, overseeing that district’s special education programs and staffing, inclusion practices, and legal compliance for 1,500 students with lEPs, from infancy through age 22. She previously served in a variety of capacities in the Santa Monica – Malibu Unified School District, including Principal, Vice Principal, School Psychologist and Special Education Coordinator. She earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of California – Santa Barbara and a master’s degree in counseling psychology and school psychology from California State University – Northridge. Sinfield earned her administrative credential from LACOE-Education Center East and is a licensed educational psychologist. -- Culver City Crossroads

With the confidence built from poetry, she became fearless in pursuing her dreams-becoming a dancer, a CSUN Communications Studies Graduate, and a Get Lit Teaching Artist today. She is moved beyond words to be back working with both Get Lit and the students.
