Video Development
(1) Practice Video from prepared resources
- Prepare a video of the "Ecology of the Sierra Nevada" using material provided.
- include video with narration (the narration can be dubbed later)
- include still images with titles
- post your video on YouTube, Vimeo, or other resource, and provide a link from your website
(2) Practice Video from footage you have taken in class
- Bring a camera to class that has video capability. Make certain to bring a card reader or USB cable to download images to the computer
- Make a video of (1) how to use a planisphere, (2) the effect of soap on the movement of dye in milk, or (3) classification of rocks..
- include video with narration (the narration can be dubbed later)
- include still images with titles
- post your video on YouTube, Vimeo, or other resource, and provide a link from your website
(3) Video a science activity or experiment of your choice
- Select an interesting science activity or experiment
- Don't worry about the narration as you can dub it later
- Follow these guidelines when taking the video.
- Bring the video and script to class for editing
- Include the following
during the editing process
- titles
- subtitles
- appropriate transitions
- narration
- still images (with Ken Burns effect if appropriate)
- Compress the video for use on the web.
