Advanced instruction in mountaineering and travel in the backcountry with
a special emphasis on snow and ice climbing, avalanche prediction, physical
effects of high altitudes, and winter camping skills. Emphasis is on techniques,
proper use of equipment, environmental practices, and safety. Arranged
field trips are required.
