Information for Department Chairs

Designed for new college and university faculty holding a masters or doctorate in the mathematical sciences, Southern California Section NExT (New Experiences in Teaching) is a year-long professional development program that addresses the full range of faculty responsibilities, including teaching, scholarly activities, and service. The program can only be effective if participants have the professional support of their employing institutions; they must have the encouragement to implement innovative teaching techniques, pursue appropriate scholarly activities and work on projects that can benefit the department as a whole.

We ask each applicant's department chair to write a letter acknowledging and supporting the applicant's participation, and affirming that the goals of the Southern California Section NExT are consistent with the department's mission.
