Welcome to the Reading Institute for Academic Preparation
Introduction: Supported by the California State University Office of the Chancellor via the California State University Center for the Advancement of Reading, the Reading Institute for Academic Preparation (RIAP) at Northridge is part of a CSU system-wide plan to reduce remediation in English for regularly admitted freshmen. A collaboration among California State University's Michael D. Eisner College of Education, the Department of English, and the Early Assessment Office, this RIAP is also supported by The California Reading and Literature Project, the UCLA Writing Project, and the South Coast Writing Project.
As one of only five Institutes funded for the 2009-2010 academic year, we are currently recruiting 25 participants. Participants will have 60 hours of contact time as well as 20 hours of individual work and facilitated site work. Participants attending all Institute sessions and completing the required independent work earn $750 honoraria. CEU credit is available through Extended Learning for those interested.
