CSUN NSF Teaching Fellowship Program
Entrance Requirements for Teaching Fellows
1) Hold an undergraduate degree in a STEM
discipline (science, technology, engineering or mathematics).
2) Submit copy of
valid passing scores from the California Subject Examinations for Teachers (CSET) Mathematics Subject Matter
Exam Parts I-III. (Program will reimburse examination
costs.) GRE subject matter or Praxis exams may be used instead, with
approval of the screening committee. Applicants who have not yet taken the
exams
must submit dates they plan to take the exams.
3) Satisfy admissions requirements for CSUN's Single
Subject
Mathematics Credential Program: (a) Attend a Credential Information Session, (b) Proof of Subject Matter Competence, (c)
Written statement indicating why the applicant wishes to become a
teacher, (d) Two professional letters of recommendation (within the
past five years), (e) Verification of attempt at all sections of the
California Basic Educational Skills Test (CBEST), (f) Successful
completion of an early field experience consisting of at least 45
hours that is appropriate for the student population with whom they
will be working, completed within the last five years, (g)
Tuberculosis test, (h) Interview with a College of Education faculty
member, (i) Fingerprint Clearance.
4) Satisfy admissions requirements for CSUN's Master's
degree
in mathematics
education or in mathematics (Pure or
Applied Option). Questions about the
