Technology Recommendations

Some technology recommendations (mostly alternatives to graphing calculators) by Fellows and others with a caveat that these are suggestions ONLY, your technology purchase decision is yours alone:

Low cost tablets (not iPads), for example, Dell Venue 8 16 GB Tablet (Android) together with such apps as Graphing Calculator by Mathlab.

Chromebooks ($199), which can be used with web-based calculators.

Recommended iPad apps -- GoodNotes, Notability, Note Taker HD, Bamboo Paper, Paper, and Google Drive (to access files on a Google drive from the iPad).

Adonit jot script blue tooth stylus and the app Penultimate, which is needed to sync the stylus to the iPad.

Embedded GeoGebra Files

For a real number k and your choice of function, f(x), explore how the graphs of f(x)+k, f(x+k), kf(x), and f(kx) compare to the graph of f(x).
Experiment with positive and negative values of real numbers a and c and visualize the sign of ac, the product of a and c.

PROBLEM: Find as many parabolas as possible that pass through the points (1,6) and (-1,-1). Use any strategy. Use GeoGebra to check your work.
