Thanks to Teaching Fellow Stefnie Evans for organizing and leading a discussion about the book Make It Stick: The Science of Successful Learning, by Peter C. Brown.
Some technology recommendations (mostly alternatives to graphing calculators) by Fellows and others with a caveat that these are suggestions ONLY, your technology purchase decision is yours alone:
For a real number k and your choice of function, f(x), explore how the graphs of f(x)+k, f(x+k), kf(x), and f(kx) compare to the graph of f(x).
Experiment with positive and negative values of real numbers a and c and visualize the sign of ac, the product of a and c.
PROBLEM: Find as many parabolas as possible that pass through the points (1,6) and (-1,-1). Use any strategy. Use GeoGebra to check your work.
