Announcements:

• On Tuesday Oct. 17, I will be holding a review session for math 450 from 9.30 to 11.30. That means I won't hold my regular office hour (10.30 to 11.30) that day. Instaed, I will hold an extra office hour that day from 3 to 4, and another one on Wednesday, Oct. 18, from 1 to 2, both at East Hall 4851.

• The midterm exam will take place on Thursday Oct. 19 from 12.00 to 1.30 p.m. at Chrysler 133. Calculators are not allowed in this exam, but you can bring one page (i.e., one side of a 11 x 8.5 in piece of paper) of notes. The exam will cover sections 1.1 -- 3.2 of the textbook. These review sheets #1 and #2 should help you prepare for the exam.
  

• A review session for the midterm will be held on Tuesday Oct. 17 from 12 to 1.30 p.m. at DOW 1017.
