about the course
- course overview. math 150A is a 1st semester calculus course. The course emphasizes computational skills, conceptual understanding, and applications. Math 150A provides students with the calculus background they need for subsequent courses in math, science and engineering.
- pre-requisites: passing score on or exemption from the Entry Level Mathematics Examination or credit in MATH 093, and either a passing score on the Mathematics Placement Test or completion of MATH 105, or both MATH 102 and 104, at CSUN with grades of C or better. Students who transfer the equivalent of MATH 105, or both MATH 102 and 104, with a C or better are required to achieve a passing score on the Math Placement Test.
- textbook: Calculus, by James Stewart, 7th edition, Brooks/Cole Publishing.
- homework: webwork homework will be assigned and collected in class each week on Fridays. Students may work together in groups and discuss the homework problems with each other, but each student should submit their own solutions. Homework amounts for 20% of the final grade.
