The Ecology of Child Day Care in the San Fernando Valley

A pilot research project conducted by Holli Tonyan

California State University, Northridge

I am currently seeking to learn more about the range of child day care settings available to children and families in the San Fernando Valley, with a particular focus on care for children aged 24-36 months. I have begun a survey of child care providers in order to begin to find out how they themselves see the care that they provide for children.

We previously mailed out surveys to participants.

As surveys are finalized, they will be available here for download in English or Spanish (although we are aware that many child care providers in the San Fernando Valley speak other languages, we do not currently have the facilities to translate our surveys into additional languages).

General information about participating in a research project: Bill of Rights as a research participant

For Family Child Care Providers (caring for children in your own home):

• A survey about you and your program overall, specifically for family-based child care providers (in Microsoft Word format) - technical difficulties!
• A survey about your philosophy and daily routines (in Microsoft Word format)

For Center-Based Child Care Providers

• A survey about your program overall - technical difficulties!
• A survey about your philosophy and daily routines (in Microsoft Word format)
• A survey for people who provide care for children aged 24-36 months (ok to fill this out even if you care for a wider range of ages)
