Course Description

This course provides a survey of business information systems concepts including organizational information systems responses to business environments; systems enabling business strategies and business models; business processes, functional areas, and enterprise architecture/enterprise systems. It covers foundation of systems analysis, systems development and management with technology advancements such as cloud computing, data analytics, the Internet of Things, and blockchain, as well as the ever-increasing threats and demands related to cybersecurity and information privacy.

Stairs & Reynolds “Principles of Information Systems(Info Sys) is the main text for the course. Other texts (Database, Network+, SA&D) have only 2-3 chapters being selected to cover the basic concepts of Databases,  Network, and Systems Analysis Design.

For cost effective , you may consider to subscribe to Cengage Unlimited Access for the whole semester to access all the textbooks for this course and more. (Some of you may already do it in your IS 212 class.)

The final course grade will be assigned on the following scale: A (93-100), A- (90-92), B+ (87-89), B (83-86), B- (80-82), C+ (77-79), C (73-76), C- (70-72), D+ (67-69), D (60-66), F (0-59).
