Quiz on March 12: Your score on that quiz (max 20 points) will be distributed towards your midterm scores. Effectively, this quiz is a nice opportunity to earn some extra points. The quiz will be graded as any other assignment. Just a reminder: extra points can be used to raise your midterm's scores up to maximum of 100.
This quiz is the project of Rod Capistran who is pursuing a doctorate degree in Math Education. His studies were approved by the University and if you have any questions you can ask Rod in person (he is attending our classes and is sitting in the last row), or e-mail him at capi0004@umn.edu .


Math 1271 Lecture 030

Tangent lines; limits and continuity; differentiation: definition, basic rules, chain rule, rule for trig, exp and log functions; implicit differentiation; rates of change, max-min, related rates problems; 2nd derivative test; curve sketching; linear approximation and differentials; L'Hospital's rule; integration: definition, antidifferentiation, area; simple substitution; volume of solids by cross sections and shells; works; average value of a function. 4 credits. 3 lectures, 2 recitations per week.

J. Stewart, Calculus. Early Transcendentals, 4th Edition, Brooks/Cole Publishing Company, 1999.

Classes schedule:
Lecture 030: MWF 11:15am-12:05pm 1701 Univ Ave 143.
The office hours will be MF 4:00pm--6:00pm.
