In partnership with many people, Faculty Development created this New Faculty Handbook as a self-paced resource to meet your needs as a new faculty member before you start your position and beyond. The handbook introduces faculty to critical information about teaching as well as key information and contacts at CSUN that will help you get acclimated to your new campus community.
What’s the purpose of the New Faculty Handbook?
This is your guide on the side during your first year at CSUN with curated information relevant to new faculty. We don’t want you spending hours looking up information – it’s all right here!.
If for some reason you suddenly can’t attend our orientation event, this is one way to access what will be introduced. Even though this resource can’t make up for in person connections, this should help you achieve a sense of community while learning important information about your new job.
How should you use it?
The New Faculty Handbook is one of four important building blocks of the New Faculty Foundations experience. It’s designed to be an evolving resource for you to explore on your own time, and at your own pace. You are not required to engage in this resource before your start date or before coming to the new faculty orientation.
We recommend that you take your time to go through the content. Don't try to read it all in one day. This is intended to be a resource that you keep coming back to revisit when you need it. You can also expect the Handbook to be referenced in the live presentations during the New Faculty Orientation and Reconnection events that are part of the New Faculty Foundations program.
