CSUN Receives $3 Million Anonymous Gift to Support Armenian Studies

An anonymous $3 million gift will support CSUN’s Armenian Studies Program and provide scholarships to students. This is the second anonymous gift to the program in the last year, following a $2.1 million gift in 2019. The program focuses on Armenian culture and the impact Armenians and Armenian Americans have throughout the world.

 
 
 
 
 
 

CSU Welcomes Next Chancellor, Joseph Castro, with Livestreamed Conversation

New California State University chancellor-select Joseph I. Castro recently introduced himself via livestream to the 23 CSU campuses. When he takes the helm in January, Castro will be the first-ever California native and Mexican American to lead the CSU. Castro, who has served as the president of Fresno State since 2013, will succeed Chancellor Timothy P. White, who is retiring after leading the CSU since 2012.

Two CTVA Alumni Recognized with 2020 Primetime Emmys

Two CSUN Cinema and Television Arts alumni were recognized for their work in the television industry at the 72nd Primetime Emmy Awards. Arielle Kilker ’11 won two Emmys for her editing and producing work on the Netflix series “Cheer.” Six-time nominee Ryan Mallick ’10 was recognized for his editing work on “RuPaul’s Drag Race.”

The Chicano Moratorium’s 50-Year Legacy Continues

In 1970, demonstrators in East Los Angeles marched to protest the Vietnam War, where disproportionate numbers of Mexican Americans were killed and wounded. The event, known as the Chicano Moratorium, was attended by CSUN alumni, staff and faculty, who say the protest is echoed in the activism of today.

Diplo Returns for Big Show 20th Anniversary Event

CSUN Associated Students Productions celebrated the 20th anniversary of its Big Show concert with virtual sets by the DJs Diplo and A-Trak.
