Matadors Forward

April 5, 2022

Dear Matadors:

The spring semester is flying by and we are already past the halfway mark! As we enjoy the next few months on campus, we wanted to share some important reminders that will help us move to the finish line together, strong and healthy.

We are excitedly planning our first in-person graduation in two years! With this in mind, CSUN continues to maintain indoor mask requirements for all students, faculty and staff, regardless of vaccination status, throughout the spring semester. This is a momentous occasion for CSUN’s graduating classes from 2019-2022, and we remain fiercely committed to doing all that we can to ensure that Matadors will enjoy their celebration in person with their loved ones. The ongoing indoor mask requirement is also based on the fact that the California Department of Public Health continues to strongly recommend masking, stating that masks remain a critical component for protecting those that are most vulnerable in our communities. We also continue to keep a watchful eye on a new COVID-19 variant.

Other important news and reminders:

Booster Reminders:

  • Students coming on campus must provide certification of a booster shot upon becoming eligible according to CDC guidelines. If you haven’t already done so, please provide your booster certification by logging in to the myNorthridge Portal and going to the Vaccination Self-Certification pagelet on the Home tab. If you haven’t already received your booster shot, you can schedule an appointment today by visiting myturn.ca.gov.
  • Students must submit a booster certification in order to register for classes.

On-Campus COVID-19 Testing Updates:

  • While on-campus COVID-19 testing is currently open to the entire CSUN community, beginning Monday, April 18, 2022, testing will only be available to those with medical or religious exemptions or those whom the university has identified as a close contact with someone who has tested positive. We encourage others to avail themselves of free testing options now widely available across the greater Los Angeles region. Click here for a list of options within L.A. County.
  • Testing for those with medical or religious exemptions is required on a weekly basis.
  • On-campus testing for exemptions and close contacts will continue to be available Monday through Friday, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Please visit this COVID-19 testing information page for further information.

Resources for your well-being

  • We encourage you to visit CSUN’s newest wellness resource website for students and employees, CSUN Revitalize: The Campus Care Recovery Program (CCRP). The site offers valuable information including comprehensive wellness resources, clinical services and the toolkits necessary to promote and sustain wellness recovery in the wake of the pandemic for CSUN’s diverse community of students, faculty, staff and administrators.

As always, thank you for continuing to care for one another and for showing flexibility, understanding and kindness as we continue to navigate this pandemic together. If you have any questions about vaccinations, boosters or testing, you may contact the Student Heath Center at (818) 677-3666.

Let’s finish the semester strong, Matadors! We’ve got this.
