Hispanic-Serving Institutions, Including CSUN, Have National Impact on Student Success

New U.S. Senator Alex Padilla joined a virtual briefing looking at the impact Hispanic-Serving Institutions — including CSUN — have on Latinx/a/o students in California and across the nation, particularly through increased graduation rates. The briefing was a collaboration of CSUN, Excelencia in Education, the CSU and California Community Colleges.

As the number of incidents of violence toward Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders spikes in California and around the country, CSUN leaders across campus stepped up to show support and offer a wealth of resources. “To our Asian American and Pacific Islander Matadors: We stand with you,” said CSUN President Erika D. CECS Pioneer Bonnie J. Campbell Influences Women in STEM

Bonita (Bonnie) Campbell’s influence as a woman in STEM is remarkable. At CSUN, she was the first woman to be hired in a tenure-track position and ultimately gain tenure as a full-time engineering professor in what is now the College of Engineering and Computer Science. She was also the founding chair of the Department of Manufacturing Systems Engineering and Management.
