Hard Work, Determination Pay Off as Nearly 11,500 Prepare to Graduate from CSUN

It took a lot of late nights, seemingly endless papers and projects, and the understanding and support of loved ones. The reward begins this weekend, when nearly 11,500 CSUN students participate in CSUN’s 2017 commencement on the steps of the Oviatt Library.

 
 
 
 
 
 
CSUN is developing a hotel and restaurant on campus.

CSUN Forms Public-Private Partnership to Develop On-Campus Hotel and Restaurant

CSUN has signed a letter of intent with Jupiter Realty Company to develop a Hyatt Place Hotel, which would include restaurant and conference space, on campus at no cost to California or the university.

CSUN Commencement 2017 Schedule

May 19-May 22
CSUN will recognize its 2017 graduates starting at 8 a.m. on May 19 with the David Nazarian College of Business and Economics, and concluding with the College of Engineering and Computer Science and the College of Science and Mathematics at 8 a.m. on May 22. All ceremonies will take place on the Oviatt Library steps and can be followed live on Facebook.

The end of the CSUN baseball regular season is May 21 at 1 p.m. at Matador Field.

The Matadors bid farewell to seniors William Colantono, Fred Smith, Connor O’Neil, Dylan Alexander, Samuel Myers and Drake Atlee in their final game of the regular season against the visiting Titans.

The popular Associated Students Summer Movie Fest returns June 15.

Associated Students Summer Movie Fest

June 15-Aug. 31
The popular Thursday night movie series kicks off June 15 with The LEGO Batman Movie. After that there will be weekly movies on the lawn in front of the Oviatt Library, including such box-office hits as the new Beauty and the Beast, Star Wars: Rouge One and Sing.

Honored Faculty Reception, May 22

The annual Honored Faculty Reception will begin at 1:30 p.m. in the USU, Grand Salon. Faculty awards will be presented for Outstanding Faculty; Distinguished Teaching, Counseling or Librarianship; Scholarly Publication; Creative Accomplishment; Extraordinary Service; and Visionary Community Service Learning. Emeritus professors and faculty completing milestone years of service will be honored. Refreshments will be served.
