Here are the stories of six outstanding graduates being recognized at Honors Convocation on May 13.

Outstanding Graduates to Receive Special Recognition at CSUN’s Honors Convocation

Of the approximately 2,100 graduates invited to take part in CSUN’s Honors Convocation on May 13, Wolfson Scholar Angelina Finau, Nathan O. Freedman Award honoree Maria Akopyan, Braulio Diaz, Kimberly Madhwani, Sunshine Williams and Roxxette Zepeda will be singled out for special recognition as outstanding graduating students.

Sleepyhead Wins CSUN’s Second Annual Bull Ring New Venture Competition

Sleepyhead, an e-commerce sleep startup that sells boxed memory-foam mattresses and bed toppers, won the $20,000 first-place award at the final round of CSUN’s Bull Ring New Venture Competition, which was organized by the university’s David Nazarian College of Business and Economics.

Filmmaker John Cassavetes and his wife and collaborator Gena Rowlands give luminous, fragile performances as two closely bound, emotionally wounded souls who reunite after years apart. This classic 1984 film will be shown for free in the Armer Theatre.

Martha Graham and American Music performs at VPAC on May 13.

Martha Graham and American Music at VPAC

Sat, May 13, 8 p.m.
Featuring conductor Christopher Rountree and the Martha Graham Dance Company, this rare one-time performance will also bring together CSUN students, alumni, and select high school and community dancers to perform the 10-minute piece that will open the performance.

Congratulations Banner for CSUN Graduates

Continue the tradition of faculty and staff signing the banner to wish our graduates well after completing their degrees. Come to the Colleagues Room on the second floor of the Sierra Center May 9-11 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day to sign this year’s banner, which will be prominently displayed on the Oviatt Library quad during graduation week.

Graduating Student-Athletes Honored at Senior Sash Ceremony

CSUN Athletics honored 85 student-athlete graduates at a special ceremony where seniors received red Matador sashes and Athletics medallions to wear at CSUN commencement ceremonies. They were toasted by the Matador Achievement Center staff as they celebrated their upcoming graduation.
