Homecoming Returns to CSUN

CSUN will be celebrating its biggest welcome back to campus event in eight years when Homecoming returns to CSUN on Feb. 11, 2017. The day-long celebration will include a special Founders’ Day event, a barbecue and wine garden, reunion gatherings, musical performances, Men’s Basketball vs. UC Santa Barbara and much more.

Senior Day for Men's and Women's soccer team.

Senior Day: Men’s and Women’s Soccer

Sat, Oct. 29, 7 p.m. and Sun, Oct. 30, 2 p.m.
This weekend will be the last time seniors on the Men’s and Women’s Soccer teams will suit up for a regular-season home game. The men’s team, who will play UC Riverside on Saturday, will graduate seven seniors while the women’s team, playing against Hawaii on Sunday, will be graduating nine.

Spring 2017 Registration Made Simple with New Degree Planning Features

Registration is just around the corner, with early registration and waitlisting beginning Nov. 1. Planning your schedule has never been easier with the new and improved Degree Planning Tools in your myNorthridge Portal and the CSUN app. In particular, the Registration Planner helps create your preferred schedule in just a few seconds. Based on what options you select, you can generate every possible schedule combination and send your desired schedule directly to your enrollment shopping cart. Registration by appointment lasts through Dec. 11 and nonrestrictive registration begins Dec. 12.

Title IX “Not Anymore” Training Required for Registration

Do you have the Title IX “Not Anymore” registration hold? Take the training and clear the hold today. Stay updated by checking your CSUN email. To maintain a safe environment, CSUN staff and students are required to complete “Not Anymore,” an online, video-based, violence-prevention program. Students can complete this course by clicking the “Not Anymore” link under incomplete task in their checklist.

2017 FAFSA Now Open

Students can now complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online to qualify for financial aid for the 2017-18 school year. The California deadline for state financial aid is March 2, 2017 and the federal deadline is June 30, 2018. Be sure to review the major changes implemented this year. State financial aid is given on a first-come-first-serve basis and Cal Grant requires submission of a school-certified GPA by March 2, 2017.

CSUN FastPitch

FastPitch is a new venture competition where students have three minutes and three PowerPoint slides to pitch their idea in front of a panel of judges and an audience, for cash prizes up to $2,000. FastPitch is meant to be a training ground for teams to prepare for the Bull Ring New Venture Competition in the spring. The deadline to apply is 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 30.

New Program for Future Humanities College Professors

Students in the humanities and related fields can now apply to a new program called HSI Pathways to the Professoriate, which aims to transform the landscape of the professoriate by increasing the presence and visibility of Latina/o faculty members in the humanities. The CSUN College of Humanities will select 10 qualifying juniors this fall for the first cohort of HSI Pathways/Mellon Student Fellows. The application deadline for the program is at 4 p.m. on Nov. 15.

Celebrate Africana Studies Week

The Africana Studies Department welcomes you to celebrate the 47th annual Africana Studies Week from Oct. 31 to Nov. 4. The week kicks off with an Africana Studies Open House at the Campus Store lawn on Oct. 31. Students can also enjoy a keynote lecture by Dr. Anthony Samad at 1:15 p.m. on Nov. 2 in the Whitesett Room (SH 451).
