2016 Distinguished Alumni Awards Honorees Create an Emotional Evening

Influential CSUN alumni Shigemi Matsumoto ’68 (Music), Jim Ring ’70 (Psychology), ’72 (Urban Studies) and Robert D. Taylor ’82 (Engineering) each took the stage at the Four Seasons Hotel Westlake Village on April 16 to share their emotional and moving experiences after receiving one of the university’s highest honors — the Distinguished Alumni Award. The 18th edition of one of CSUN’s signature events, the Distinguished Alumni Awards, was a night of reconnection, of recollection and filled with Matador pride.

Showcasing Engineering Innovation

Unmanned aerial vehicles, a steel bridge, a social networking website for gamers, a concrete canoe and a human-powered tricycle — these were but a few of the many innovative creations developed by students in CSUN’s renowned College of Engineering and Computer Science, and put on display at the 7th Annual Senior Design Project Showcase.

CSUN-affiliated CHIME Institute’s Schwarzenegger Community School has been named a 2016 Hart Vision Charter School of the Year by the California Charter Schools Association. This is the second time CHIME has received this honor.
