POSTER TIPS

The BEST posters are those where the TYPE-SIZE is large enough that it can be easily read from 3 feet away.

The BEST posters are artistically as well as scientifically excellent.

The BEST posters are concise in wording:

ABSTRACT- summary

INTRODUCTION- Explanation of why you are doing this research and what it's all about.

MATERIALS AND METHODS- Concise but accurate. Flow-Charts are good.

RESULTS- Charts and graphs, fully labeled with legends and statistics if appropriate. Labeled photos are also good.

DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSIONS::What do your results mean?

REFERENCES

Tips from Dr. Oppenheimer

*Heading in largest font should include title, student names,(teacher) and
school.

*They start with a summary of the work, followed by a brief introduction
which often states the problem and hypothesis.

*They provide detailed but concise materials and methods.

*They give results in detail being sure to note how many times experiments
were repeated and how many control and experimental samples were examined.
It should be clear why specific controls and experimentals were used.
Statistics are a plus.

*The results should be given in both graphic, tabular or picture form
AND in brief concise writing form.

*The poster text should close with the student's conclusions, etc. Did the
work support the hypothesis, etc.

*Finally, references should be cited.

We have no required format, BUT posters should be visually crystal clear
and pleasing to the eye.

WE HAVE SOME POSTER EASELS BUT YOU'D BE SAFEST TO BRING EASELS OR DO
POSTER DESIGNS SO THAT THEY ARE SELF-STANDING.
