(NORTHRIDGE, Calif., Nov. 9, 2006) -- Capping a gala evening celebration, California State University, Northridge President Jolene Koester on Wednesday formally dedicated the university’s newly named Mike Curb College of Arts, Media, and Communication, paying tribute to the campus’ distinguished alumnus and largest donor.
(NORTHRIDGE, Calif., Aug. 23, 2006) — Curb Records Chairman and former California Lt. Gov. Mike Curb has pledged $10 million to California State University, Northridge to endow his alma mater’s nationally renowned arts college and provide a lead gift for the university’s planned regional performing arts center that also will serve as a “learning laboratory” for students.
Born in Savannah, Georgia and raised in Los Angeles’ San Fernando Valley, Curb presides over his own independent record label, one of the largest in the nation, that has launched the careers of stars such as LeAnn Rimes, Tim McGraw, Wynonna Judd and Hank Williams Jr. Curb attended Northridge from 1962 to 1963, along with his mother Estella, when the campus was known as San Fernando Valley State College. Earlier this year, he was a recipient of the University’s 2006 Distinguished Alumni Award.
