Time Flies When You're Having Fun | See Which Staff Are Celebrating a Service Milestone!

Mark Schaubert of Mike Curb College of Arts, Media, & Communication, is celebrating 45 years of service; and Hai-Ling Tang of Oviatt Library is celebrating 40 years of service!

Just as exciting, more than 50 CSUN staff members are marking their 25th, 30th, or 35th service milestone!

Although we couldn't come together to celebrate these colleagues or the more than 370 other staff members marking a service milestone, you can see who they are at the Celebrating 2020 Staff Service Award Honorees page. If you work or have collaborated with someone on the list, stay connected and consider sending them a quick congratulatory note to help them celebrate.

Be sure to check out CSUN Celebration 2020 to see a salute to graduating students and how colleges, departments, faculty and staff helped mark this student milestone.

Health Care Dependent Re-Verification Requirement | Celebrating Your Birthday in September?

Dependent Re-Verification (DRV) is the process of re-verifying the eligibility of your spouse, domestic partner, children, stepchildren, and domestic partner children (family members) enrolled for state health and dental benefits. Government Code section 22843.1 mandates re-verifying the eligibility of your family members. Government Code section 22959 authorizes extending this review to your family members enrolled for dental benefits.

The eligibility of your family members will be re-verified once every three years. The re-verification period is based on your birth month. Employees born during the following months are required to re-verify family members during 2020: March, June, September, and December.

For those employees with birthdays in September, you do not need to send in the Dependent Eligibility Verification Affidavit mailed to you by CalPERS. As a sustainable and convenient alternative, you will receive an email from Adobe Sign. From that email, you can complete your required Dependent Eligibility Verification Affidavit and attach the required documents.  Please complete and submit your required documents prior to September 30, 2020, in order for your dependent(s) to continue receiving health coverage and avoid cancellation on 10/1/2020.

For more information visit the following page: Health Care Dependent Re-Verification

May 29 Live Pay Warrant Distribution

In order to accommodate reduced on-campus staffing and virtual operations, Payroll Administration and University Cash Services (UCS) have implemented the following measures to the master payroll warrant distribution process for the May 29, 2020 pay day.

Cash Services has directly reached out to all employees who are scheduled to receive a live pay warrant (pay check) to communicate these details directly to them.

For all departments except Physical Plant Management (PPM), LIVE PAY WARRANTS (paychecks) will be released on pay day only to the individual employee or by mail with proper release authorization. PPM employees will pick up their live pay warrants from their department as usual.

Receiving Live Checks by Mail

We prefer to mail out live warrants to all employees. Employees can opt to have their live pay warrant mailed to them by completing the COVID-19 Live Check Release form in the myNorthridge portal. Checks are generally mailed out on payday. You should expect to receive your check three to five business days later, depending on the mail service in your area. After logging into the myNorthridge portal, navigate to the “Staff” tab and select “COVID-19 Live Check Release” from the “Human Resources/Employee pagelet.

Important items on mailed live checks:

  • This form will automatically be sent to UCS and will not require forwarding to your department representatives.
  • All previous forms received during the COVID-19 disruption will be honored and used for future paydays. You do not need to submit a new form each month.
  • Both mid-month warrant recipients and month-end (master payroll) warrant recipients are able to use this new form.

Picking Up Your Live Check on May 29, 2020

We expect to receive approximately 400 live pay warrants for the May 29th month-end payday, requiring line management procedures, which include maintaining a distance of six feet from fellow employees.  As CSUN is an essential business, please remember to follow the City of Los Angeles’ guidelines about the wearing of face coverings while in public.  Face coverings include a mask, bandanna or other type of covering over your nose and mouth.

Employees may pick-up live pay warrants in the Bayramian Hall Student Services Center, windows 10 -16, and must have a valid CSUN ID or valid California Driver’s License. It is imperative that employees adhere to the following pick-up times to minimize contact and maintain employee safety. Live warrant distribution by last name will be as follows:

  • A – G:           9:00 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.
  • H - N:           10:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
  • O - Z:            12:00 p.m. – 1:30 p.m.

We encourage employees to sign-up for Direct Deposit for future pay periods.  The following link provides information on Direct Deposit for CSUN employees: https://www.csun.edu/payroll/direct-deposit. Please note that it can take up to two pay periods to become effective. Thank you for your patience.

Completed forms can be mailed to:
Human Resources – Payroll Administration
California State University, Northridge
18111 Nordhoff Street
Northridge, CA  91330-8229

Employees may now view their pay warrant (paycheck) details as well as view their IRS Form W-2 by registering with Cal Employee Connect (CEC). CEC is a secure site run by the State of California’s State Controller’s Office and allows state employees to view pay warrant information for the current tax year and two prior tax years and view Form W-2 for the past three tax years.  Access to CEC is available for current and former state employees.  More information can be found here: https://www.csun.edu/payroll/cec

If you are not able to pick-up your live pay warrant on May 29, 2020, you may pick-up your live pay warrant at UCS at a later date. Please review our website for updated hours of service.
