Hiring New Student Assistants? | The Student Assistant Mentorship Program (StAMP) Booklet and Website are Available

At CSUN, we want to ensure that every employee on campus has access to the tools they need to succeed, and this starts with our very own Student Assistants (SA's).

As both a student and employee on campus, SA’s have an opportunity to further engage on campus while developing a core skillset that they can take with them throughout their careers. The Student Assistant Mentorship Program - StAMP was designed to be a useful tool for supervisors to provide students with an outline on how to Put the Customer First, learn The Work Environment and gain Professional Development resources and skills. The StAMP Handbook is a useful tool that students can keep with them with everything from advice on etiquette, to personal presentation.

Your role as a supervisor and mentor is crucial to student assistants' personal and professional development. Even a modest amount of time can make a difference in the lives of student employees. Familiarize yourself with the contents of the StAMP booklet or website, use the resources in the Mentor Toolbox, and follow three easy steps to help your Student Assistant have a successful employment experience. For supervisors or managers of Student Assistants, if you are interested in obtaining copies of our StAMP Handbook to offer your student employees, please send an email to professional.development@csun.edu requesting the number of copies needed.

To find out more information about the StAMP program, please visit and refer your student assistants to the StAMP website at: https://www.csun.edu/development/stamp.

Is Your Emergency Contact Information Up to Date, and Easy to Access?

Now is a good time to ensure that your emergency contact information is up to date and easy to access.

CSUN Portal

Having your emergency contact information up to date on the portal will help in the event of an incident on campus. To review your information and to easily update it, visit: http://www.csun.edu/payroll/updating-personal-information.

Mobile Device

Having your emergency contact information up to date on your mobile phone will help in the event of an incident on or off campus. If you became incapacitated but had your mobile device with you, first responders could access your family/emergency contact information without your help.  It's easy to set this up on most mobile devices.

Health Care Dependent Re-Verification Requirement | Celebrating Your Birthday in March

Dependent Re-Verification (DRV) is the process of re-verifying the eligibility of your spouse, domestic partner, children, stepchildren, and domestic partner children (family members) enrolled for state health and dental benefits. Government Code section 22843.1 mandates re-verifying the eligibility of your family members. Government Code section 22959 authorizes extending this review to your family members enrolled for dental benefits.

The eligibility of your family members will be re-verified once every three years. The re-verification period is based on your birth month. Employees born during the following months are required to re-verify family members during 2020: March, June, September and December.

For those employees with birthdays in March, CalPERS, has mailed you information explaining the process and the documentation required to maintain health coverage for your dependents. Please read and ensure Human Resources has your documents prior to March 1, 2020 in order for your dependent(s) to continue receiving health coverage and avoid cancellation on 4/1/2020.
