Benefits Open Enrollment: Now thru Friday, October 6, 2017
Open Enrollment continues through Friday, October 6th. Remember, adding or making changes to your benefits as part of Open Enrollment is an easy online process via the eBenefits module in the CSUN portal.
- Benefit election changes selected during Open Enrollment become effective January 1, 2018.
- For comprehensive instructions and information including an Open Enrollment Guidebook, and to review your plan options and the 2018 premium rates, visit the CSUN Open Enrollment website at Open Enrollment for 2018.
- If you have reviewed the Open Enrollment information, the plan premium rates, and are satisfied with your current elections and do not wish to make any changes, no further action is needed.
If you anticipate making an election during Open Enrollment, you must have on file or complete the eBenefits Self-Service Electronic Signature Authorization form. You may access the form at: http://www.csun.edu/sites/default/files/eBenefits-Self-Service-Electronic-Signature-Authorization.pdf
Employee Fee Waiver Application Period for Spring 2018 | October 2 - November 3, 2017
The CSU Employee Fee Waiver and Reduction Program provides for the waiver or reduction of certain fees for employees who enroll in work-related courses offered by the CSU for the purpose of improving skills for existing jobs, or advancement in accordance with a career development plan. In addition, an eligible CSU employee may transfer his or her fee waiver benefit to a spouse, domestic partner, or eligible dependent child. The fee waiver may be transferred to one person only per semester, regardless of whether the individual uses the full two (2) courses or 6 units.
The CSU Fee Waiver module is currently available for Spring 2017 registration. In order to ensure timely processing, please submit your application no later than November 3, 2017.
We'll be hosting a workshop on the Fee Waiver and Reduction Program on Tuesday, October 24, 2017 from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the Human Resources' Training Room, Oviatt Library 16, Garden Level. Savings Plus - Nearing Retirement | October 19
If retirement is just over the horizon, you'll want to know all the benefits of Savings Plus that apply to you. We'll discuss maximizing your Savings Plus deferrals in your last few years of employment, withdrawing your funds after retirement, and why you should keep your funds with Savings Plus after you retire.
By the end of this workshop you will:
- Learn how to maximize deferrals in your final years of employment
- Discover the tax consequences of making withdrawals in retirement
- Find out why transferring out to an IRA might nullify many of the benefits of the state 401(k) and 457 plans
- Understand the different strategies of investing after retirement
