Learn the Importance of Designating a CalPERS Special Power of Attorney to Act on Your Behalf

A CalPERS special power of attorney allows you to designate a representative or agent, known as your attorney-in-fact, to conduct your retirement affairs. Should you become unable to act on your own behalf, your designated attorney-in-fact will be able to perform important duties concerning your CalPERS business.  The CalPERS special power of attorney is specifically designed for use by active and retired CalPERS members and beneficiaries. You may already have a power of attorney set up through another resource; however, it may not address your CalPERS retirement benefits.

The morning (9 am - Noon) is dedicated to a joint staff and lecturer orientation with sessions related to HR topics including a welcome from President Harrison.

In the afternoon, (Noon- 4pm) lecturers meet separately for a hosted lunch followed with teaching tips led by Faculty Development and the Faculty Technology Center. Newly hired staff will be registered and receive a notice from Human Resources.

Newly hired lecturers will receive an invitation notice from their hiring department with a special link to register.

Please contact Professional Development with any questions.

New Hire / Position Description Reminder

Please remember to have new staff sign their position description within seven days of their hire date and to forward a copy of the signed position description to the Office of Human Resources, University Hall 165, mail drop 8229. The signed position description is maintained in the employee’s file and the position file. Retaining an electronic version of position descriptions within the department will make future updates easier.

As a reminder, if significant changes are made to a position description of a current staff member, that staff member should also sign their newly revised position description, with a copy sent to HR and the original maintained in the employee’s file and the position file.

Minimum Wage Update

Although Los Angeles City employers recently saw an increase to their minimum wage amount, CSUN employees follow the California State minimum wage guidelines - our current minimum wage rate is $10.50 per hour.

The next anticipated increase to the CA state minimum wage will be to $11.00 per hour on 01/01/2018.
