Matador Book Club - So You've Been Publicly Shamed | October 12

Join us Wednesday, October 12th, Noon to 1:00 pm in Oviatt 16 for a lively discussion of So You've Been Publicly Shamed, by Jon Ronson, which was chosen as this year's Common Read. Were you able to catch Jon Ronson at this year's Freshman Convocation?  Drop in and share your thoughts on what he had to share with our students.

The Center for Southern California Studies Presents: A Discussion on the 2016 Elections | October 18

The Center for Southern California Studies, College of Social & Behavioral Sciences and Department of Political Science will present A DISCUSSION ON THE 2016 ELECTIONS, on October 18th at 7 PM in Oviatt Library's Ferman Presentation Room.  

Please join us for a very special evening as our distinguished panelists discuss the 2016 elections and their profound implications in both national and international contexts.  Featured guests include Jane Junn, Chris Kofinis, and Jose-Luis Valdes.

CSUN Matador Masters Meeting - A ToastMasters Chapter for Faculty & Staff | October 19

Interested in gaining more confidence and developing your leadership and communication skills in a no-pressure atmosphere? We’ve established a CSUN ToastMasters chapter open to all CSUN staff and faculty. If you’re interested in learning more and would like to be part of this dynamic group, come to a meeting and observe. ToastMasters’ mission is to provide its members with a positive and supportive learning environment where participants can practice delivering speeches and fulfilling leadership roles, which can in turn foster self-confidence and personal growth. Working Moms Brown Bag Lunch - Stress & Sleep Management | October 25

The Working Moms Brown Bag lunch gives CSUN’s working moms a chance to gather monthly to offer support, advice, and camaraderie. Topics will vary depending on attendees’ interest. Join us in the Student Recreation Center Conference Room.  Bring your lunch for this drop-in group and take a well-deserved hour for yourself!

PRIDE Center Open House for Faculty and Staff | October 27

All CSUN faculty and staff are welcome to attend our special Open House just for you.

Walkability Wednesdays - October's Featured Walks: Campus Food Options; Gardening & Nutrition; and, Campus Trees

Hosted by CSUN's Institute for Community Health & Wellbeing, Walkability Wednesdays, take place from Noon to 12:45 every Wednesday, and feature guest speakers and walk leaders.  Upcoming walks include:

  • October 5th: Join Jed Mitra of the Institute for a walk through campus and a discussion on dining options on/around campus.
  • October 12th: Join us for a casual walk through campus.
  • October 19th: Join Charlotte Kerber of the Institute for a walk through campus and a discussion on gardening and nutrition.
  • October 26th: Join faculty member Mario Giraldo of the Institute for Sustainability and students for a walk through campus and a discussion on campus trees.

Students, Faculty, and Staff are welcome to join the program at any time and participate in as many/few walks as you wish.  Meet at Santa Suzanna 115 and bring a completed Liability Release Form with you.  Visit the Institute's Walkability Wednesday website for a calendar of walks and future speakers/leaders.

You Can Still Win a CSUNderArmour Pullover: Cheer on the Matadors at the Faculty and Staff Appreciation Series

You still have time to win a CSUNderArmour pullover by cheering on the Matadors! Join us for the CSUN Athletics Faculty and Staff Appreciation Series.  Faculty and Staff are encouraged to attend the games listed below. Admission is free on these select dates and you can bring a guest.  Faculty and Staff that attend four of the six games in the series will win a new CSUNderArmour pullover.  Come on out and cheer on the Matadors!

Games in the Appreciation Series include:

  • Sunday, 9/11 Women’s Soccer  vs. Pepperdine 6 p.m.
  • Thursday, 9/22 Men’s Soccer vs.  San Diego 7 p.m.
  • Thursday, 10/6 Women’s Volleyball  vs. Hawaii 7 p.m.
  • Sunday, 10/23 WSOC vs. Oklahoma 1 p.m.
  • Monday, 11/14 Women's Basketball vs. San Diego 7 p.m.
  • Saturday, 11/19 Men's Basketball vs. Northern Illinois 7 p.m.

There will be a designated Faculty & Staff Registration Table at each of the games in the Matador Appreciation Series.  Please sign in at that table to receive your ticket(s) and to register your attendance toward winning the CSUNderAmour polo or pullover.
