Join the Fun: Participate in the CSU 2022 Steps Challenge | Now through May 20
You can still join the first CSU Systemwide Steps Challenge! You’ll virtually travel from San Diego State to Humboldt State, accumulating steps as you go. You can participate as an individual, or create a team of up to six colleagues, where you can support and track each other’s progress.
You’ll begin the journey at San Diego State, where you’ll head north to visit each of the 23 CSU campuses. For every step you take you’ll accumulate four additional steps as you virtually travel, and along the way you’ll be inspired by fun facts about each campus—as well as the Chancellor’s Office. Simply track your daily steps using a pedometer, Fitbit or smart phone app, and log them daily or weekly on the CSU Steps Challenge website. Don’t have a Fitbit or smartphone app? Use the “Activities to Steps Conversion Chart” found on the CSU Steps Challenge home page.
It is recommended to take 10,000 steps per day, according to Kaiser Permanente. In the CSU Systemwide Steps Challenge, you will receive additional virtual steps for every one step you take to help you get to all of the CSU campuses faster. The challenge is self-paced, so you can visit as many campuses as you’d like on your own schedule.
And we’ve included an incentive to get you moving – so if by the end of the program on May 20 you’ve visited at least 50% of the campuses (reaching Cal Poly San Luis Obispo) and complete our survey – you’ll be entered to win one of 24 prizes! That’s right, we’ll randomly select a winner from each campus and the Chancellor’s Office, so you could be the winner!
The CSU Steps Challenge officially began Monday, February 14 and "runs" through Friday, May 20. So, grab your walking shoes and visit the website today to set up or join a team. You’ll be automatically redirected through single sign-on to the Steps Challenge website when you click on the “Log In” button on the page.
We’re looking forward to traveling the virtual journey together across the CSU system!

StrengthUnited and Mitchell Family Counseling Clinic have Merged
StrengthUnited and the Mitchell Family Counseling Clinic, both chartered centers of CSUN’s Michael D. Eisner College of Education, are pleased to announce that they are merging their services and resources to provide greater opportunities for our students and our community. As of December 2021, the two centers began operating under StrengthUnited’s single charter to provide training for undergraduate and graduate students, and 24/7 crisis intervention, mental health, prevention, education and outreach services to the broader community and campus.
StrengthUnited (SU) provides crisis intervention and support for those who have experienced trauma as survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and child maltreatment. The Mitchell Clinic (MFCC) provides relational therapy including treatment for individuals and families for issues such as anxiety and depression, grief and loss, life transitions, and more. The merger allows the centers to increase the scope and scale of services they can offer, and provide a more comprehensive continuum of care for their clients, while providing students with expanded educational opportunities.
SU’s focus on crisis intervention, trauma, and violence prevention provides a critical community service for survivors at their most vulnerable. And MFCC’s focus on more comprehensive relational therapy addresses the continuing, longer-term needs of clients. The joining of services comes at a critical time, meeting the urgent need for more mental health services in our communities.
To obtain trauma focused services for clients, call our 24/7 support and resource line: 818-886-0453 or 661-253-0258; and for relational counseling services, call 818-677-2568.

CSUN is currently expanding its present network of electric vehicle (EV) charging stations on campus. EV commuters will soon have access to 88 convenient charging stations in total, as new units are installed and all current Level 2 and Level 3 chargers are being replaced with new “smart” chargers. Installation is expected to be completed by the end of February 2022, and the new system platform will be powered by Chargie, the largest installer of EV charging stations in Southern California.
According to Austin Eriksson, CSUN’s Director of Energy and Sustainability, “EVs are quickly growing in popularity, so it is vital for us to provide the necessary support system required for these vehicles." Read More +
