Matador Employee Social Circle: The CSUN Book Club - The Trial | June 1
June 1, 2021
7:00 - 8:00 p.m.
Join us whether you've read the book, are half-way through, or haven't started it yet.
The book discussed for June 1 is "The Trial" by Franz Kafka. (This gathering was rescheduled from May 18th)
Written in 1914 but not published until 1925, a year after Kafka’s death, The Trial is the terrifying tale of Josef K., a respectable bank officer who is suddenly and inexplicably arrested and must defend himself against a charge about which he can get no information. Whether read as an existential tale, a parable, or a prophecy of the excesses of modern bureaucracy wedded to the madness of totalitarianism, The Trial has resonated with chilling truth for generations of readers.
The group gathers approximately every six weeks on a Tuesday, at 7 pm.

Register today to join CSUN’s Inaugural Career Preparation Program!
CSUN invites supervisors of student employees to brighten the professional futures of their workers by participating in the From Here to Career: Career Readiness Program. During this 10-month employment development program, you will learn how to support your student while they explore and practice key concepts and strategies that will set them on a path to career success.
Starting in August 2021, participating faculty and staff supervisors of students will support working collegians with learning and applying career fundamentals through monthly check-ins and be asked to encourage students to engage with a variety of online resources. The time investment is 30 minutes a month. As supervisors, you will be given access to a toolbox of information and workshops that will help you gain knowledge about the skills employers are looking for in entry-level applicants. In addition, you will learn strategies that help students translate their on-campus work skills into post-college careers.
For more information, contact the Career Center at studentemployment@csun.edu or 818-677-2385.
