CSUN Matador Masters Meeting - A Toastmasters Chapter for Faculty & Staff | December 8

Interested in gaining more confidence and developing your leadership and communication skills in a no-pressure atmosphere? We’ve established a CSUN Toastmasters chapter open to all CSUN staff and faculty. If you’re interested in learning more and would like to be part of this dynamic group, come to a meeting and observe. We normally meet twice a month at Noon in the HR Training Room, Oviatt 16.  For additional information, please feel free to contact Rosemary Martin at Rosemary.Martin@csun.edu.

Toastmasters’ mission is to provide its members with a positive and supportive learning environment where participants can practice delivering speeches and fulfilling leadership roles, which can in turn foster self-confidence and personal growth. Your participation in a Toastmasters club can lead you to conducting effective meetings, guiding successful team collaborations, and enhancing your listening and speaking abilities.

5K Walk/Run Fun Relay | December 11

Join the Kinesiology Department's 3 WINS Fitness Club and Friday Morning Matadors (FMM), sponsors of this event, for a 5K Walk/Run Fun Relay on campus. Fit for All fitness levels, take this opportunity to chat and make friends with participants who will become future exercise buds. ALL PROCEEDS BENEFIT THE CSUN MATADOR CARE FUND.

When:     Sunday, December 11, 2016

Time:       Oviatt Library @ 8 AM

          Fee:          CSUN Faculty/Staff/Student = $5, Non-CSUN Participant = $10 

On-site registration opens @ 7 AM

To help you progressively improve your health, join a walk/run training program , 30-45 minute sessions, every Monday and Wednesday starting at 7:00 AM and 5:30 PM.

Training Meeting Location: Dirt Track in front of Redwood Hall's Brown Center and Matador Hall.

Matador Book Club - A Summons to Memphis | December 14

Mix the joy of reading and the pleasure of stimulating conversation and you've got Matador Book Club.  Whether you're a voracious reader or nothing's on the tube reader, pick up and read the title below then join colleagues and make new friends as we discuss the book.

Winner of the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction in 1987, A Summons to Memphis is the recollection of Phillip Carver, a middle aged editor from New York City, who is summond back to Memphis by his two conniving unmarried sisters to help them prevent the marriage of their elderly father to a younger woman. Campus Winter Celebration | December 15

The evening will feature a CSUN talent showcase, dancing, food and beverage stations, desserts, special winter photo booths, and much more.

In the spirit of the season, this year's event will feature a food drive to support the CSUN Food Pantry. With food scarcity as a real challenge for some of our students, the CSUN Food Pantry has been created to provide support services and food for the CSUN community. Prepare for the Flu Season! Flu Shots Available At Klotz Student Health Center

This year’s Seasonal Influenza “Flu” Vaccine (2016-2017) is available for all students, faculty. This season’s vaccine provides protection against four strains of influenza viruses. The cost is only $19.

Flu shots will be given by appointment at the Klotz Student Health Center. To schedule your appointment please call, 818 677-3666.

Please bring your ID. Cash or check payment accepted.

*Individuals 65 and older may receive the standard flu vaccine. However, there is a “high-dose” alternative. Ask your healthcare provider for more information. The “high-dose” vaccine is not available at the Klotz Student Health Center.
