Couch to 5K to LA Orientation | September 5
3 WINS Fitness proudly presents its first LA Marathon Challenge. From COUCH to 5K to LA, this program is designed to prepare non-runners to COMPLETE first a 5k, and finally the LA Marathon on March 18, 2018. Join us on Tuesday, September 5th at 5:15 p.m. in Redwood Hall (Lindley side) for an orientation on how to take advantage of this life changing experience. No running experience is necessary. Just the hope, dream, and determination to make a positive change in your life! On Monday, September 11th we will begin our first day of training, along with an additional orientation session, at 5:15 p.m. at the jogging path on the corner of Lindley and Plummer. At the orientation we will discuss the program in detail. The COUCH to 5K to LA is the “umbrella” program. That is the whole enchilada. Underneath that we have our COUCH to 5K program that will be in conjunction with Kaiser Permanente and the Breast Cancer 5k event to be held on CSUN’s campus at the end of October. Once the 5k event is completed, we will then invite everyone to continue on with the program and join us on our COUCH to LA journey!

Matador Athletics Faculty & Staff Appreciation Series - Women's Soccer vs. San Diego | September 24
The Fall 2017 Faculty & Staff Appreciation Series includes six home events on campus. CSUN Faculty and Staff members will receive free admission to each game, and are invited to bring up to three guests. For attending four of the six designated games, participants will receive a #OneMatador Polo Shirt.
All CSUN Faculty and Staff members are eligible to participate by checking in at each game using their CSUN ID. The Athletics Department will have a separate check-in area for participants at each venue in order to track attendance. Premium giveaway items will also be made available for each game, as applicable, at the Faculty & Staff Series check-in table.

Helping New Students Thrive - Applying David Yaeger's "Psychological Friction Model at CSUN | September 26
Join us for a panel-led discussion of David Yeager’s model for “Sources of Psychological Friction” and how we can customize his work to reflect challenges often faced by new students here at CSUN. Attendees will also gain a better understanding of how to help students overcome these challenges. Dr. Yeager delivered CSUN’s 2017 Terry Piper Lecture: The Psychology of Academic Achievement: How Belonging & Mindset Influence Student Success.
