HR News Campus Updates | May 2017
Volunteer to Assist at the 2017 Commencement Ceremonies!
Assist guests and students at commencement by showing your CSUN spirit and say farewell to our class of 2017.
Volunteer roles include:
Way Finder/Greeter - Initial point of contact for guests to help navigate them to the venue
Diploma Cover Distributor - Provide students with diploma covers just prior to them walking on stage
Line Management - Guide the graduating students into their seats during the processional
Gate Supervisor - Back-up for ticket scanners who identify persons with invalid tickets and offer suggestions
There will be a training for these roles on May 11 and 12 from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm in the Thousand Oaks Room in the USU.

Sign the Congratulatory Banner for CSUN Graduates!
Mark your calendars to stop by the Colleagues Room (2nd floor, Sierra Center) on Tuesday, May 9th, Wednesday, May 10th, or Thursday, May 11th between 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. to sign the banner congratulating the entire class of 2017! The banner will be on prominent display on the Oviatt Library quad during graduation week.

Keeping California Great: Latino Political Influence in the Golden State | May 4
Join us for the annual Envisioning California Lecture on the campus of California State University, Northridge. A panel of legislators, academics, and activists will discuss the rise of Latino political power in California and what it means for public policy against the backdrop of a federal government moving in a very different direction

2017 Academic Innovation Showcase | May 9
Please join us for the 2017 Academic Innovation Showcase, and please help us spread the word about it to students by forwarding this invitation along. All faculty, staff, and students are welcome to join the conversation about innovative ways that we can work together to increase educational equity and student success.

- 12 to 2 pm: Lunch and Town Hall Meeting (Topic: How can we leverage the diversity of our students to help them succeed?)
- 2 to 4 pm: Showcase of faculty and staff innovations aimed at closing opportunity gaps

Summer Academic Program for Elementary School Students (SAPESS) | June 19 - July 21
While spaces are filling up, it is not too late to explore the benefits of enrolling your child in CSUN's Summer Academic Program for Elementary School Students (SAPESS). This year's program runs from June 19th through July 21, 2017, and is open to children entering Kindergarten* and Grades 1 through 5 in fall.
