The 53rd Annual Staff Service and Recognition of Excellence Awards Event which willl take place Monday, April 22, 2019 provides us the opportunity, through the Recognition of Excellence Awards, to recognize both staff members and teams for outstanding efforts made over the course of the calendar year. Those awards are the:
- Presidential Award
- Award of Merit
- Alumni Award
- Excellence in Diversity and Inclusion Award
- Student Assistant of the Year
- CSUN Leadership Award
- Jolene Koester Team Award, and the
- CSUN Community Engaged Staff & Faculty Award - New This Year!

Check Out CSU Learn - Your New Platform for Compliance and Online Skills Training | Coming Soon!
We are pleased to announce that CSUN, in partnership with the Chancellor's Office and all CSU campuses, is transitioning from the Skillport Learning Portal to CSU Learn. CSU Learn is a robust learning management tool that provides employees with access to required compliance training such as non-discrimination and information security awareness, as well as to more than 75,000 online courses, books, and videos, and registration for our campus professional development workshops. The Spring 2019 Faculty & Staff Series includes seven home events on campus. For attending four of the seven designated games, participants will receive a CSUN Under Armour Pull over or sweatshirt. CSUN Faculty and Staff members will receive complimentary admission to each game and are invited to bring up to three additional guests. All CSUN Faculty and Staff members are eligible to participate by checking in at each game using their CSUN ID. The Athletics Department will have a separate check-in area for participants at each venue in order to track attendance. Premium giveaway items may also be made available for each game, as applicable, at the Faculty & Staff Series check-in table while supplies last.

Turn Red into Green: 5 Ways to Celebrate a Sustainable Valentine's Day!
Who says Valentines’ Day can't be sustainable and warm hearts across the planet? Here are 5 tips to celebrate this day in green style and find romantic ways to save the planet.
- Create a unique gift: Consider planting a tree together to symbolize your relationship's strength and endurance. Place a list (preferably on compostable paper) of all the things you love about each other under its roots.
- Rethink your gifts: If you can move away from flowers, perfume, teddy bears and switch to living plants, organic flowers, essential oils, beeswax candles and other organic, fair-trade items, you and your love can both feel fuzzy inside.
- Write a poem: Nothing says 'I love you' better than a personal poem. It takes love, a little creativity, and minimum resources. You can use recycled paper if you're writing it out or send a digital eCard.
- Adopt an animal: For lovers who also love animals, Valentine's Day is the perfect time to gift an adoption kit from the World Wildlife Fund or give a homeless pet a warm home.
- Home-cooked green dinner: Prepare a homemade dinner with local produce. It’s less expensive than eating out, will probably taste better, and is a great way for you to show your love for a local farmer.
