Project PRISM-Ed Receives Office of Special Education Programs Grant

Congratulations to Rachel Friedman-Narr, with Flavia Fleischer, Christine Mitchell, and Jasmine Solis, for being awarded an Office of Special Education Programs grant for Project PRISM-Ed. The purpose of Project PRISM-Ed is to implement a pipeline through Deaf Studies into the Deaf Education Preliminary Credential Program at CSUN. Project PRISM-Ed will recruit, retain, and prepare educators of the deaf by incorporating equity-minded teaching principles to support social and linguistic justice for deaf students who are economically and linguistically marginalized. Expected outcomes include preparing 25 educators of the deaf to implement best practices in deaf education using American Sign Language and applying principles of equity-minded teaching.
