About the Speaker: Dr, Xiyi Li is a senior researcher at the Institute of Science and Technology Investment in Chinese Academy of Science and Technology for Development (shorted as CASTED), Beijing, China. After receiving his Ph.D. in 2004, he has been working at CASTED, and its predecessor was named as National Research Center for Science and Technology for Development.

In CASTED, His research field is policy research of finance for science and technology development and innovation, including Venture Capital, Science and Technology Bank, Intellectual Property Finance. He has published many articles, and his research have supported the making of science policies in China, such as the supporting policies of State Medium and Long Science and Technology Development Program Outline from 2006 to 2020, VC Administration Rule in 2006, Experimental Work for Science and Technology Finance in 2011, Loan Risk Compensation, etc.

During his visit at CSUN, Dr. Li has researched on the role of VC to promote SMEs development in China, in collaboration with Dr. Zhongguo Zhou of the department of Finance at CSUN. This talk is based on this research.
