The University may hire people on an emergency basis to cover short-term leaves of absence, vacations, or a vacancy. Emergency Hires may also be utilized to handle increased workload or special projects.

- This process should be completed at least one week prior to the requested effective date. NOTE: An Emergency Hire appointment may a require background check which could take up to 10 days.
- A formal recruiting process should be initiated online in Recruiting Solutions if the Emergency Hire position duties are anticipated to be long-term.
