Please report life event changes which may affect your eligibility or your dependents' eligibility immediately to the Office of Human Resources, Benefits Administration. Examples of life event changes are marriage, divorce, termination of domestic partnership, birth/adoption, reduction/increase in time-base, and dependents who reach age 26.
If you separate from employment for reasons other than retirement, your coverage will continue through the month that you leave.
If you leave employment towards the end of the month, your insurance coverage may continue through the month after the month you separate from the university. To see if your coverage is extended an additional month, look at your last pay warrant for premiums paid by the university or deducted from your pay. If you see your deduction or the employer premium in your last pay warrant, you have coverage for an additional month.
You may continue your benefits by enrolling in COBRA (Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act). You will be notified if you are eligible for COBRA. If you elect COBRA, you will pay the entire group premium of the plan. Coverage must be continuous, and you will be required to begin to pay premiums from the date your coverage ended. COBRA participants remit payments directly to the health plan.
If you have a change in your position which changes your bargaining unit, your benefits will be automatically updated. View the Benefits Summary by bargaining unit.
