Procurement

The California State University (CSU) system is committed to ensuring that its programs and services are accessible to everyone, including persons with disabilities through our Accessible Technology Initiative (ATI). The CSU Executive Order 926 and Coded Memorandum AA-2013-03 outline the importance and impact of accessibility on campus when making Electronic and Information Technology (E&IT):

  • Technology access for individuals with disabilities must provide comparable functionality, affordability, and timeliness and should be delivered in as seamless a manner as possible.
  • The implementation of Universal Design principles should reduce the need for, and costs associated with, individual accommodations for inaccessible technology products.

As part of the ATI commitment, California State University, Northridge (CSUN) has established an E&IT Procurement Process to assess the accessibility of electronic and information technology items that need to be procured for the campus based on Section 508 Compliance Standards. CSUN has enhanced its E&IT procurement processes to help define and increase awareness of the campus impact for E&IT purchases.

An E&IT Procurement Form is now required for all electronic and information technology purchases as identified in the 508 compliance standards.
